Fun Times

fun%20times%201_0.JPGOur aim is to provide opportunities for each person we support to participate in activities that they enjoy.  This can include mastering a new a task, joining in to make friends at a community-based class and simply having fun.

High teas - a Rescare favourite

Our monthly high teas are always well attended and enjoyed thoroughly.

Served at both Rescare sites, the high teas are dainty, ‘posh’ events that delight residents and staff.  Small bites of food are served on tiered cake plates and tea is made in a teapot and served in china cups that have been especially bought for the occasions. Delicious and beautiful, it’s a time for residents to enjoy social company.

Some residents help with shopping for ingredients, some help with baking and others lay everything out on tables covered with pretty tablecloths. A booklet of recipes has been compiled to assist the resident bakers each month.

The Annual Rescare Ball / Dance and Dessert Evening

Formal and beautiful, this event is seen by many of our residents as the highlight of their year. Held off-site, those attending dress in semi-formal ball attire (no jeans allowed at this event!), enjoy supper, and dance the night away to a live band. funtimes_0.jpgWith a different theme each year, the ball is a great opportunity for all of our residents to mix together and enjoy really great fun.

Contributing to the community

Rescare enjoys giving back to the community, supporting organisations that are important to us through fund-raising throughout the year. For example, the Rescare family supports:

  • Raising funds for Epilepsy Awareness Day
  • Selling poppies for the Returned Services Association
  • Raising funds and collecting tinned food for Auckland City Mission’s Christmas Appeal
  • A food and present drive to support Te Puea Marae
