A Rescare Career

career-crop2_1.jpgIf you’d like to make a difference in the lives of people with an intellectual disability, and be paid for having fun while doing so, we’d certainly love to hear from you.

Our Community Service Workers and Team Leaders are capable, compassionate people who work alongside residents with kindness and respect.  Many of them have interests and hobbies of their own and a passion for sharing them with others.

You’ll need to be fun-loving, energetic and patient, and appreciate that, for some of our residents, taking even the smallest step forward is an enormous achievement.

Ideally, you’ll have previous experience. However, if that’s not the case, contact us anyway especially if you’re passionate about supporting people with intellectual disabilities to live great lives.

Training

“Staff are given so many training opportunities.  I can’t think of any other facility like this for training. I’m very grateful that Rescare’s training opportunities and policies are exceptional.”

Leeza Meafou, Rescare Team Leader and former Community Support Worker

careers(1)_1.jpgOur focus on training opportunities and career pathways is outstanding for our sector.  As a CSW, you’ll be provided with the opportunity and support to qualify at Levels 2, 3 and 4, the latter of which you can spread over six years.

Additionally, specific on-the-job coaching in the ‘Rescare way’ will begin on day one of your employment. For example, you will learn to:

  • Encourage residents to express, in whatever way they can, their opinions, ideas and preferences. This is because when staff talk and interrupt less, and genuinely listen, they help residents to grow
  • Be courageous and focus on possibilities
  • Laugh everyday with the people you care for
  • Keep calm in the face of a challenge and respond in creative ways that benefit the people you care for
  • Do the right thing – even when no one is watching
  • Work hard and follow the rules.

A career pathway

When you join us at Rescare as a CSW, we’ll support you through your training and we’ll pay for it – and we’ll encourage you to view your role as a step on your career pathway. Many of our CSW’s become Team Leaders, and most of our Service Managers were previously Team Leaders.

Employee assistance programme

At Rescare, we believe in providing optimal conditions for the people we employ to contribute to the organisation.  Personal or work-related problems have a negative impact on that contribution.

Therefore, Rescare has partnered with EAP Services to provide professional and confidential employee assistance services to our employees and their immediate family members.  24/7 assistance is available FREE of charge  to support, without judgement or censure, people experiencing any personal or work-related difficulties.  EAP Services also provides on-site support to staff who may have experienced a traumatic event such as the death of a person whom they have supported.

careers_1.jpgEAP professionals are all qualified, registered and highly experienced and do not release any identifying information about the people who use their service without written consent. The service is completely independent of Rescare.

Vocational services staff

As a Vocational Services Community Support Worker, you’ll be ‘alongside’ our residents and non-residents who have high needs and are participating in our vocational service programme. You’ll be supporting them to take steps out into the community, learn new skills and gain confidence with activities they may not have tried before.
