Board Chairperson
Brian Nowell has had 36 years’ experience in finance and general management with a large public manufacturing company including as General Manager Customer Services and Quality and a senior management role in the organisation’s Corporate Communications team.
He has held governance positions for more than 20 years, including as a Director and / or Trustee of several organisations and as a former Director for a Trustee of public and KiwiSaver superannuation funds. In addition to his role on Rescare’s Board, Brian is currently Chairperson of a tertiary education provider and of a trust that encourages people to engage in their local community’s activities. He is also a Trustee of a foundation involved in palliative care.
He is strongly motivated to encourage people to become involved in a broad range of activities that aid their community to achieve better health, wealth and well-being.
Brian brings highly capable leadership skills to Rescare’s Board, and the organisation continues to benefit from his focus on quality assurance and organisational growth. He became a Board member in 2003 and has been Chairperson since 2013.
Brian’s daughter has been a Rescare resident since 1997.
A former member of the Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand, Brian was a chartered member of the Institute of Directors New Zealand until his resignation in 2018.
An avid sports enthusiast, Brian enjoys walking, cycling and fishing, and loves to travel.
