Board Member
Richard Dimmock’s business career has included more than 40 years’ experience in business finance, corporate structuring and governance. His focus has been largely on the property, manufacturing and distribution sectors. In recent years, he has focused primarily on projects of interest, the most recent being an 18-month governance role as the Owner’s Representative on the Project Control Group for the construction of a new museum for the Waitangi National Trust.
Richard served for 25 years on central and local government company boards and on boards of privately-owned companies based in New Zealand, Australia and internationally.
He has been a Rescare Board Member since the Board was established in 1995: his late sister Jenny Dimmock was a foundation Rescare resident.
Richard worked with the founding Trustees of Rescare Homes Trust to develop the ‘Community within the Community’ concept and assisted in negotiating a construction contract with Fletcher Building to build Rescare’s original homes. He also helped establish financial arrangements with Countrywide Bank to help fund early developments and negotiated (indirectly) Rescare’s initial service contract.
“I am extremely proud to have been part of a small group that developed the ‘Community within the Community’ concept and negotiated the first contract (indirectly) with the Ministry of Health. The looks on the faces of the residents at our two communities is validation of the ‘Rescare’ concept.”
Richard has a Post Graduate Diploma in Business (Finance). He enjoys wildlife photography in New Zealand and internationally.
